Bloodydecks Yellowtail Shootout set delivered

I built a match set of 3 - 7 foot  Rainshadow rods to be given away at this years BD Yellowtail Shootout. An RCLB 70L, RCLB 70 ML and a RCLB 70M all spiral wrapped with ALPS 316 stainless steel guides in Bloodydecks colors.

Mark from Acidrod.com donated the parts and I put them all together to make the set, thanks Mark.

The set was designed to be functional and nothing fancy so they could be fished hard without worrying about banging them around while trying to get that “big one” to the gaff. I hope the winner enjoys them and fishes them hard all year, hopefully to catch the winning fish in next years shootout.

I have been working on the West Coast Custom Rod and Tackle Show

Working with Mark and Doc to put the October 2 day show together is a lot more work than you can imagine. Not much time to build rods these days.

We have already sent out contracts to the vendors and builders from last years show and started locking down spots in the new venue.  We will be sending out contracts to the “new” vendors and builders shortly. So, it looks like it will be off to the races soon and leave little time for rod building until after the show October 2nd and 3rd.The show will be much bigger than last year with the addition of the “tackle” crafters and expanding the show to 2 days as well as relocation to the Pasadena Convention Center.

Day at the Docks was fun

Since I had never been to Day at the Docks I thought it would be fun to set up a booth and promote the Custom Rod Show and to sell a few turks head knots. I Hooked up with Mark at Acidrod.com and we managed to gather a nice selection of custom built rods to display.

Mark was also able to gather up a few items from his shop to sell at the show.

While the show itself was a lot of fun, I did not have much time to wonder around and look at all the other displays vendors had set up. I did manage to get over to see Lori Byron and her arts for kids program.

I think next year I will just head down as a participant rather than a vendor so I can actually walk around and talk to folks and take a look at all the boats I have not had a change to fish from yet.

4 Days @ Fred Hall

The 4 days I spent with Doc and friends at the Fred Hall show was a blast. I took a lot of time off from work to just hang out and chat with friends old and new. I didn’t spend as much as I thought I would on new gear, but I did pick up some stuff I needed along with a few things I really didn’t.

We are looking forward to spending time at Day at the Docks down in San Diego in April and selling a few knots.

Such a busy time

We have been busy building ball bouncing sets and rail rods for the guys going long range and down to PV as well as various Turks Head Knots you can see at Acidrod.com. They have some standard knots and there are custom colors available too.

Contact Info

I have received a couple of calls from people saying that there was no contact info on the site. After arguing with the first person for 15 minutes I decided to check and she was right. Nice to hand out cards at the show to go to our web site then not have any way to get ahold of us.

Shoot me an e-mail if you like to NimCustomRods@hotmail.com or ahern_mj@hotmail.com . Sorry for the confusion. We will get the contact page up shortly.
